Mort and Barbara Held
An acquaintance
of his, who happened to be my boyfriend at the time, introduced us because he
knew that I was starting college where he was to be a junior. We
were just friends for a year. The following summer we worked together as
counselors at a summer day camp, and I broke up with the boyfriend and soon
after started dating my husband. The rest is history
Barbara and Gerry
Mogenlender
We met in
December 1980, it was a mild winter but yet quite enthralling. It was at her
parents photo shop as I was there to meet a friend of mine that was working for
them. I was introduced to my beautiful wife for the first time and there and
then I knew. We married in August 1986 because I said I wanted to marry the
same year as the Mets won a World Series. Its a good thing we didn’t meet in
1987 because I would be single now, not a member of TBT, get to sleep late on
weekends and I'd be in 4 bowling leagues. Oh well...
Scott and Eileen Abrams
We met at the
"Kenny Loggins on Broadway" concert. Neither of us knew each
other going in to the theatre but, by the time we left, we were friends.
Ironically we both had turned down the tickets earlier that day. Luckily
for our wonderful children, we changed our minds.
Howard and Lauren Lev
Both of us
were unhappy after she was widowed and he was divorced. We both had a pair of teenage children
who prodded us to submit our names to a dating service. Once we met and "clicked", we
started to meet each other’s friends. One pointed out that we could have
been brought together two years earlier, she had tried to set us up. It
was meant to be. That was 10 years
ago and we brought all four children together under one roof.
Sharon and Ben
Scernese
We had met in college
but hadn’t really connected before she transferred to another school. One spring day my senior year I was in
a park BBQ with my friends and saw her sitting on a bench talking to a friend
and snuck up behind her, covered her eyes and played, “guess who”. She guessed correctly and said she had
had a dream about me the night before and KNEW that she would see me that day
in the park.
Rob and Debbie
Saunders
I was a bartender and
she was a waitress at a catering hall.
I hit on her right away.
Our first date was a bad movie, I proposed a year later that was 22
years ago.
Mark and Beverly
Freidman
She was in the back seat of my car while I made out with her best friend. She threw her shoes at me from the back seat to try and get my attention. It worked.
It was a blind date
set up by a mutual friend. We went
to Casblanca’s in Woodmere and that was 24 years ago
Jeff Cohen
We met at the
first meeting of SUYO Senior, September 1975, in the Youth Lounge of the Suburban
Temple. He stood out from the others in his cowboy hat. I was a big flirt
when I was a teen and went over and introduced myself. Two months later
he 'asked me out' at Kutz Camp while on a NFTY conclave. In 1977, we had
a mock wedding for SUYO. Les wore a leisure suit
and I found a
wedding gown that fit in Sisterhood's Rummage. (picture attached).
Les and I were married, for real, by Rabbi Raab on October 10,1982.
Judy and Les Kule
We met at
Thanksgiving Dinner at her family home.
I was invited to dinner as an extended family member and we “clicked”
immediately. My wife’s second
cousin is my step father’s wife.
